Excellent point. I would guess that use of these things as "phones" is less than 5%. Possibly even less for Gen Z.

And, looking at the Greek origin of the word telephone, it really isn't applicable to that thing in my pocket.

The "i" prefix to all of the Apple products (iPhone, iPad, etc.) is starting to feel rather dated.

Do ppl in mainstream kids school take haidts recomendation seriously or is it a florida thing?My (also digital zombie)perception is that parents agree but i have seen heavy pushback from academics that phones/media need regulation

My sense is people do take them serious and collective conversations are percolating in schools across the country. He has a substack called “after babel” that’s worth checking out for rolling updates.
