Great piece. When a solid state begins to liquify, it can be called “goo.” You can’t spell good without goo. This goo-d has been seen and yearned for by some for more than a decade. Your writing is powerfully good.
I will now only refer to Jesus as the divine surrogate child. This piece has a lot of heart in it, Jeff. Every time a queer person shares their story, the world becomes a bit brighter and a bit more colourful. Thanks for sharing.
So sad! I can't imagine my world without your precious son and all the other amazing children I know who were born in unconventional ways -- especially Jesus!
By the way, I absolutely love how you write about your anger. I feel we all might be better off for accepting that as part of our made-in-the-image-of-God identity. I was reading Isaiah earlier today, and after all the burning, devouring, and destruction I kept seeing this refrain: “even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike.” Of course, though, in the end love wins!
Jeff, it's a wonderful story and I feel inadequate responding. However, as I finish Miles Taylor's book Blowback, I believe strongly that ignorant people have to be answered. I've never been the subject of a troll attack, and not all need to be acknowledged if that should occur, but those who pretend to know and speak with dubious authority should be. And who would be a better candidate to respond than you?
Thank you Jeff for sharing this beautiful story. We could all do with some honest self reflection this time of the year, and it takes a lot of character to follow your conscience and do what you know is right. You are already setting an example that your son will be very proud of as he grows up. Merry Christmas 🎄

Thanks Riley. Appreciate your kind words and support. Merry Christmas!
Great piece. Jeff -- and a remarkable insight (even to a Heathen like me).
Thanks Rob. No blasphemy accusations so far!
