100%. I’m noticing a dynamic among men: stuck between a desire for acknowledgement and recognition, and an inability to ask for it because it’s unmasculine to do so.
You are probably too young to have grown up watching the “Andy Griffith Show”, but he was like the Platonic ideal of a dad.
Don’t know if you have experienced it yet, but you’ll just figure out how to work with your kid, and then they’ll change overnight and all your working set of parental tactics go out the window and you have to come up with a whole new set.
I’m happy you have embraced fatherhood. Ils truly a learning experience given the ups and downs. You never know where your children nor grandchildren are taking you. When you get there you have to stay with them through thick and thin because they need you and they are an extension of your being. Jeff you’re on the road. Enjoy the ride.
This was a beautiful moment to picture, you in the restaurant with your newborn and the grandfather's encouraging words. Just precious. Happy father's day to you. Your son is lucky to have you.
Happy Father’s Day! A lovely story Jeff. It seems like fatherhood has unveiled the best in you - the sides of you that maybe you didn’t realise were you already - the something that the grandfatherly figure in the restaurant called out in you with his words. ❤️
Cannot overstate how much dads want to be told they are a good dad. Told someone the other day he was a good dad and he started tearing up.

You can’t explain it but it hits you to the core.

Griffith is before my time, but I’m familiar enough to understand the reference. As for parenting rules: I’ll keep them agile.

Beautiful, Jeff. Thank you for this.
Thank you for your insights and support for us dads. I am a solo dad by choice - surrogacy. Best thing I ever did.
